Lu Su met with Liu Pei at Ch'angpan and proposed that Liu Pei of Shu Kingdom and Sun Ch'uan of Wu Kingdom form an alliance.With their combined forces and supplies,they could resist Ts'ao Ts'ao.Liu Pei was very glad to accept this proposal.Liu Pei's military counsellor,Chu-ke Liang,suggested that he go to the Wu Kingdom as Liu Pei's representative and ask Sun Ch'uan for help.Liu Pei agreed to let Chu-ke Liang go back with Lu Su to meet with Sun Ch'uan.
