Lu Chih-shen gave twenty ounces of silver to Lin Ch'ung and another three ounces to the two guards.He pointed to a pine tree and said,"Are your heads harder than that tree?"The guards answered,"No, of course not.Our heads are made of skin and bone."Lu Chin-shen struck the tree with his staff. The blow split open the trunk,and the tree fell to the ground.
