One day Pao-yu heard that Pao-ch'ai was ill and went over to see her.Pao-ch'ai had heard that Pao-yu was born with a piece of jade in his mouth,but she had never seen it.She asked for a good look at it.It was the size of a sparrow's egg and iridescent as clouds at sunrise,with two lines engraved on it:"Never Lose,Never Forget,"and "Eternal Life,Lasting Prosperity."It was certainly a rarity.
