Pao-yu's eldest sister Yuan-ch'un had been selected by the emperor to be his Worthy and Virtuous Consort.To receive the Imperial Consort when she returned home,the Chia Family spent a huge sum of money to build a lavish garden in the compound.At the end of the Imperial Consort's visit,she ordered Pao-yu and his cousins to move into the garden-Tai-yu to live in Bamboo Lodge,Pao-yu in Happy Red Court,and Pao-ch'ai in Alpinia Court.
