Pao-yu swore that no one had called on him the previous night except Pao-ch'ai. Tai-yu thought this over and said,"I suppose your maids felt too lazy to stir and that made them answer rudely."Then Pao-yu became happy again and wiped away his tears.He said he would find out which maids they were when he got back and give them a good scolding.
