Three years passed quickly.One wintry day,passing by Plum Blossom Nunnery,Master Ch'en found a young scholar lying on the roadside stiff with cold.Master Ch'en helped the young man up and asked him who he was,where he lived and what was wrong with him.The scholar told him that he was called Liu Meng-mei.He had come from Kuangchou and was on his way to Hangchou for the imperial examination,but unluckily he had been taken ill.
