::Li Kan

The painter in the Yuan Dynasty,a native of Beijing city.His style name was Zhong Bin and his sobriquet was Xi Zhai Taoist monk.He was a poor orphan in his childhood,but later became a high official.He first won the fame as a painter of bamboo following the manner of Wen Tong and Wang Tingyun.He had lived in a bamboo valley for observing the pose of bamboo in morning,in raining or in wind.His ink bamboo executed refined strokes which were commented on their realism.His son who named Li Shixing (style name was Zhun Dao) was talented in painting landscapes,bamboo and rocks.
