A native of Shanghang,FuJian province,was a painter of Xinluo shanren,Dong yuansheng,Bu yisheng,Ligou jushi by sobriquets.He lived in Yangzhou,making a living by selling his paintings,and moved to Hangzhou when he was old.He excelled in painting landscapes,human figures,beasts,grass-and-locust,especially flower-and-bird,which were vivid and vigorous.He became a backbone of the Qing dynasty,exerted the greatest influence on the later period.He was also talented in calligraphy,poetry and prose.
