Xunzhi by style name,Yanke and Xilu laoren by sobriquets,a native of Taicang, JiangSu province,was a painter of the Qing dynasty.He excelled in painting landscapes, influenced by Dong Qichang greatly,following the style of Huang Gongwang, Wu Zhen and Ni Zan. He enjoyed using vigorous and plump brush-work.He was the founder of "The Lou Dong Style", having Wang Hui,Wu Li as his students.His grandson,Wang Yuanqi,was exerted and influenced by him greatly. Wang Shimin,Wang Hui, Wang Jian and Wang Yuanqi were called "The Four Wang", which were called "The Six Sects of The Early Qing Dynasty", together with Wu Li and Yun Shouping.He was also skilled in calligraphy, poetry and prose.
