A painter of the Qing dynasty.His original surname was Zhu, named Huairen. He was a native of Xin'an, Anhui province,and lived in Guangling, JiangSu province.He was once an official of the army,and became a monk later, named Xubai, Xugu by style name, Ziyang Shanren by sobriquet. He made a living by selling his paintings in Shanghai and Suzhou, became well-known as a great master and founder of the Shanghai school. He was talented in using the side of brush fluently and boldly. He also excelled in poetry, prose and portrait. He had a work "The poetry of Xugu monk".
