GanSu

GanSu Province is in the north of china with an area of 454,000 sq km and a population of about 25,620,000. It has many mountains and basins. The Nan shan and Qilian Shan extend in the south border and Helan Shan ,about 3,700 m high, is the border of GanSu and NingXia Hui autonomous Region. Lanzhou is the capital and also the center of industry and transportation. And it is rich in manufactures such as chemicals,fertilize,and rubber goods. Becides,Lanzhou University is located there. The other important cities are Yumen and Tianshui. The province is famous for the Old Silk Road. It was the cooidor between Central Asia and Eastern China. Traditionally, it is very poor. But after the railways were built ,the province has been industrialized and developped quickly,especially in the last few years.
