Chinese Painting's School Literatis

Zhe School Literati

This painting school literati was headed by Dai Jin,who was the famous landscape painter in the Ming Dynasty.Because he was a native of Zhejiang province,so it was called as "Zhe" school literati.It followed the style of Ma Yuan and Xia Gui in the Southern Song Dynasty.Its collateral branch included "Jiangxia School Literati",etc.

Huating School Literati

The school literati of painting in the Ming Dynasty was found by Gu Zhengyi,its outstanding representative was Dong Qichang.It was also called as "Song Jiang School Literati"for its numbers were all the native of Song Jiang.

The Northern and Southern Schools of Painting Styles

Dong Qichang Blended the Buddhism into the Painting,and separate the traditional painting into two systems.From Wang Wei to Dong Yuan,Ju Ran,Guo Xi,Two Mi and The Four Masters of Yuan Dynasty,were called the Southern School.The Southern School was famous in minute description.Another explanation was that the Southern and Northern School was created by Mo Shilong,a townsman of Dong Qichang.

Wu School Literati

The school literati of painting in the middle Ming Dynasty.It outstanding representative was Wen Zhenming,who was the follower of Shen Zhou.Its followers included Wen Boren,Wen Jia,Chen Daofu,Wang Guxiang,Lu Zhi,Qian Gu,etc.Because they were all the native of Suzhou city,and Suzhou city was also called as "Wu Men",so it was called as "Wu Men"school literati and was the major school literati that time.

Jiangxia School Literati

This painting school literati was headed by Wu Wei and Zhang Lu,who were the landscape painters in the Ming Dynasty.It was the collateral branch of "Zhe School Literati".

Susong School Literati

This paiting school literati was headed by Zhao Zuo,who was the landscape painter in the Ming Dynasty.It was collateral branch of "Songjiang School Literati"which was headed by Dong Qichang.

Loudong School

A school landscape painting in the Qing Dynasty.Also called as "Tai Cang School".Because the east of Lou River goes through Tai Cang,so it was called Loudong.Wang Shi'min was the native of Tai Cang and was famous at the time.His grandson Wang Yuanqi followed yet was beyond him.Huang Ding and others followed Wang Yuanqi.They formed "Loudong School Literati".

Jiangxi School Literati

This painting school literati was headed by Luo Mu,who was the famous landscape painter in the early Qing Dynasty.Because he gained considerable fame among his contemporaties and gave considerable influent to other painters in Jiangxi province,so it was called as "Jiangxi School Literati".

Shanghai School Literati

One of the major school literati of painting in modern times of China.Its representatives included Zhao Zhiqian,Hu Gongshou;Yu Shixian,Wu Youru,Wu Changshou,etc. Their painting style were deference to each other,but they created their own style which conforming no conventional pattern,so they were ridiculed as "Hai School Literati" by conservatives.On the other hand,they were also called as "Hai Shang School Literati" for they were dwelling in Shanghai city.
